En route to New York

April 13, 1918 – Letter from Robert to his mother:

Dear Mother

Am on a train going through Chicago. There are 1,000 men on with me. We are going to Hoboken N.J. I think we will go over before May 1. Sorry I couldn’t see you before I left. Elinore is going home to Sauk Centre. I hope you will keep in touch with her.

I have 1.45. I gave her all I had and she may need that $40.00 this fall.

I will write when i get off this train.

Love to all

Rob
