World War One Centennial Weekend

August 19, 1918 – Full diary entry:

“Recd. 2 letters from Nora + one from Dad.”

Well, Robert might not have had a memorable August 19, but I did. I spent the morning at Minnesota’s Fort Snelling, exploring the Minnesota Historical Society’s World War One Centennial Weekend.

I enjoyed seeing the collections of WW1 artifacts and the demonstrations (especially Gas Mask Baseball), but the real highlight was talking to the historians there about the war, the various challenges of researching, and about this project. They were very complimentary and I really appreciated their enthusiasm for what I’m doing this year.

I was also very glad to learn about Meuse-Argonne.com, a Facebook group with some incredibly knowledgeable members. I am really looking forward to learning from them.

Where was Robert today? See the timeline.
