The Customary Small Arms Fire

August 18, 1918 – Full diary entry:

“The weather continues nice. The only activity here is the customary small arms fire with now and then a few artillery shots. Amexes Airplanes are [with] us every day.”

It’s really hard for me to wrap my head around all of this. Four days ago the artillery fire was “real heavy” and four of Robert’s colleagues were killed. Today, he’s bored.
