Were they preparing to fight, or to keep the French roads clean?

March 22, 1918 – Full diary entry:

“Worked on mule team hauled rubbish in a.m.

P.M. worked on a street sweeper. Eleven men leave for another camp tomorrow.”

Not much for me to say about this one, other than to add a picture of a 1918-era street sweeper. I’m guessing Robert’s job was to keep replacing chains as they broke. This is one crazy design.

Where was Robert today? See the timeline.
