June 18, 1918 – Full diary entry:
“Went to the next town to see Joan of Arc’s Statue in an old church.
It is the most beautiful church I have ever seen. Beautiful oil paintings.”
As discussed a few days ago, it’s unclear exactly where Robert was camped. So this is two entries in a row with more questions than answers. What church in the vicinity of Pouxeux or Géroménil or Arches would have had a notable statue of Joan, and beautiful oil paintings, during 1918?
I would really like to figure this out – please contact me with any theories.
